Our policy is to breed straight Spanish Arabian horses and to maintain the “freshness” of our stock. For the last twenty years we have only bred straight Spanish and always “dip” back to stallions in Spain. All our horses, even our Spanish bred horses are Piroplasmosis free.

Our current preferred Sires are El Perfecto and Borneo.

Borneo was bred at the Aldara stud in Seville, Spain.

We have two stallions of our own since 2006.  Not including Don Diego who died seven years ago. Bred at the Aldara stud. “Dondo” is by Galero out of Hezina (Jacio). For 2006 our senior stallion is Estoro (by Borneo, out of Estepa) and Estel-P . Estel-P is by El Perfecto out of Jnr. World Champion Estapa, who was bred at Lodge Farm.

A possible Junior stallion for the future, Haife, is by Estel-P and out of Tomina, he is currently in Austria. Tomina is out of a Res. World Champion Orla ll, and by Don Diego, himself out of a Jacio World Champion mare, Hezina. Haife will no doubt speak for himself in the showing classes. He is very Spanish, and has already won a number of high status awards for ridden horses in Austria.

The arrival of the Spanish bred stallion Borneo in ’96 enabled us to acquire shares in his syndicate, at that time. There has not been a World Champion Stallion from Spain since the Great Sickness of the 80’s. Borneo is a stallion that could have contended for that honour.  This would have been a very meaningful moment in the assent to re-establish the Spanish Arabian in the World of the Arabian fancier.

Our breeding stock is based upon horses whose world champion pedigree is apparent still in our stock.

  • Don Diego is by Galero out of the World Champion Jacio mare, Hezina.
  • Orla II is a reserve World Champion by Galero.
  • Estepa is a junior World Champion  by Ghadames and a double Tabal mare.

Our breeding culminated in ’98 with a greatly improved stock quality in our mares.  Two of these mares came of age for breeding ’97 and were covered by Borneo, giving us 2 fillies ’98. We covered three mares with Borneo in ’98 and have produced 3 more fillies in ’99.  We had three more Borneo foals in 2000, from Estepa, Latigo and Tomina.

It is my policy to prioritise a very smooth close coupled Arabian with good necks and set on. Our pedigrees in the past have shown that we tended to have Maquillo and Malvito Dam lines, and cover them with Galero, and Jacio sire lines. For those of you wishing to use the Spanish blood as an outcross to other pedigrees we offer the prepotent compactness of body in our stock.

Our horses are intended for showing, as well as sports and long distance riding. As a sports horse the Spanish Arabian will seek to please, excel, and comes highly recommended.   For Long distance and Endurance they are exceptional. Military line bred for hundreds of years, they are selected for their stamina. A tall smooth good looking Spanish Horse is a beautiful riding experience.

Showing is important as it tests your personal idea of how a horse should look against an independent assessor. Toplines and necks with good neck “set on” and good legs, are what we love to see in our fields.

While it is hard to describe the look we prefer, save for compact, tall, and incredibly smooth horses, with necks and movement, we are delighted with the horses we have.

It’s also our policy to price our stock in such a way, that the cost is recoverable in the short term. We need to price our horses to cover stud costs at our end but also to give value to the stock in the buyer’s stud.

We are very respectful of the intelligence and courage of our Spanish horses.

Spanish horse breeders are few, and I welcome the possibility of being part of the Spanish UK breeders fraternity.
